Good location near The Ayala Mall
I have stayed at The Center Suites two times and the last time was in December 2016. It has good location near The Ayala Mall, just walking distance 10 minutes. But the neighborhood just close to the hotel is a little bit rough. When you are walking from Ayala to the hotel, there is an unfinished construction site just close to the hotel at N Escario St and Gonzales Compound which you must pass. That construction site looks exactly the same as when I was there the first time in December 2015! When passing that area at night time it feels not safe, it's dark and shabby.
Offer much for the money
The Center Suites offer much for the money. Clean rooms with good working AC. Some of the rooms have "the silent and not too cold" type of AC. Breakfast is included and the staff is very nice and service minded. Free WiFi but the signal varies from excellent to less good depending on which room you have. The Center Suites is a nice hotel, very affordable and gives value for your money.

Sometimes I am tired of dining in traditional restaurants, I like to have something quick and cheap but still reasonable good. Then the Food Court in Island City Mall (ICM) is a good option for that purpose. The Food Court is located under ground floor near the supermarket. It's noisy, lively and lot's of people but the food is good. It's simple traditional Filipino food to very reasonable prices. You get two main dishes like Pork Humba, Chicken Adobo together with some additional vegetables, rice and a bottle of water for under PHP 200. The food is not always warm, so if you want it warm ask them to micro it for you. Yeah, I know how this might sound, but despite this the food is fresh and tasty. Hey! You get a meal for under PHP 200 after all!

As far as I know there are not many Korean restaurants in Dumaguete and it took me some time to discover this pearl of restaurants. Fish 153 is not only a restaurant, it's also a shop where you can buy Korean specialities. The menu is extensive and it took some time for me to decide between all the dishes. But the menu shows a photo of each dish which was a good help for me. Fish 153 serves a variety of dishes that appeals to different kinds of tastes. They have fish, pork, beef, vegan and noodle-based dishes. I chose the classical Korean dish Bibimbap. The portion was big and delicious. I was the only dining guest at the time but there were few others coming in and bought things from the shop.

The name is inspired by the lively and intoxicating ambience of the Jatujak market in Bangkok. In a way that can be true, sometimes the Jatujak restaurant is crowded with guests, which of course it's a proof that they are doing a good job.
They have Khao Neeo, sticky rice
The food is delicious and spicy as it should be. They even have Khao Neeo, that is sticky rice (also known as sweet rice or glutinous rice) which is common in the northern and northeastern regions of Thailand. Of course every Thai restaurant with self esteem must have Khao Neeo, which surprisingly is not obvious everywhere!

If you like to try something Persian go for the Arya Persian Restaurant in Ermita. There are two branches of Arya in Ermita, one inside the Robinson Place and one just outside the main entrance of Robinson Place. I tried the one located outside, because that place is bigger with a more quiet ambience than the one inside the mall.
The menu was like a bible
The menu was like a bible with many options and I finally decided for the Mourgh Tanoori. I was hungry so I added 30 PHP extra to get Biryani rice instead of just getting Pita bread to my food. Mourgh Tanoori is skewers of chicken breast marinated in Tanoori sauce. The Biryani rice is basically spiced Basmati rice with some raisins and peanuts. The portions was big and the food was delicious. My only minor remark would be, they grilled the tomato but why not grill the green chili fruit as well? More tasty that way I think.

There are two branches of Moon Café in Dumaguete. This is the bigger one of the two, located at Robinsons Place. They have a wide selection of dishes all from salads, pasta, fish, different kind of meat and of course also Mexican dishes like for example the Nacho Supremo. I ordered the Nacho Supremo which is a gigantic portion of corn tortilla chips, jalapeño, lettuce, tomatoes, sour cream, bolognese, melted cheese all for PHP 260. This dish is definitely good for two persons. The food is delicious and the staff is service minded and friendly.

Lava instead of white sand
The main beach where you have the sea turtles is nothing special. Yes, a little bit crowded with small huts where you can rent equipment, eat and relax. There is no white sand, the ground consists of lava so the beach is a little bit rocky. But hey, it’s in the sea you experience the sea turtles, right?
So what’s my conclusion then?
I didn’t see any garbage on the beach. It was not crowded but of course there were other tourists roaming around the place. Apart from the sea turtles there were not many fish and corals to see in this limited area. And yes, it’s definitely a beautiful scenery around the island specially if you visit the light house. Next time I would like to stay for at least a couple of days so I really can explore the island.
